Always wanted to know if or why to translate/localize
your press releases? How European or Asian publications work that
might be different from U.S. publications? What wire services are
best for disseminating your news internationally?
No question on international PR is too trivial for us. We will get
you the answer – even if we have to ask an editor in China
or France!
We invite you to contact us with any questions you
may have about your current international PR programs, ideas you
might have for the future, or general musings about doing business
or conducting PR internationally. Each issue, we will present and
answer one or more questions. Let us know if you prefer to be identified
by name and/or company, or if you’d rather remain anonymous.
Either way is fine with us. Ideally, we’d like to see this
section turn into a lively forum for exchanging ideas, learning
from past experience, and presenting information that might be useful
to everyone’s international PR efforts. Remember, no question
is too trivial or too far-fetched to ask here!
Because this is the second issue of the newsletter,
we will begin by sharing with you a few questions that have come
up a lot:
Question: Is it true that in Europe
you have to pay for editorial?
Answer: No. Globalpress works so closely with editors
and publishers that we understand their situation. In the last 3
years advertising has been cut so much that there are not many outlets
for good PR left. If we place a bi-lined article with 3 –
4 pages, we might offer the publisher to pay for the graphics charges
or buy some ad space, or contribute to a conference the publishing
house organizes.
Question: How much does it cost
to do a press tour to Europe and how long does it take?
Answer: Depends on the industry focus. For 18 –
20 interviews in 4 countries you need a week and the cost is between
$30k – 40k.
Question: How do I find a good agency
to help me?
Answer: Referrals are the best way. But most countries
now have PR magazines or websites. Research those and find the listing
of agencies that meets your needs.
