A Match Made in Las Vegas
Globalpress Connection and CEA expanded their partnership
from Globalpress Electronics Summit to bring more international
visibility to the world's largest consumer electronics showcase
held annually in Las Vegas by CEA.
The new year started with a bang for Globalpress,
bringing us to Las Vegas in support of the 2005 International CES,
the largest annual consumer technology event worldwide. From January
6th to 9th, CES housed over 2,500 exhibitors this year, showcasing
the hottest consumer electronics products and technologies in categories
such as digital imaging, wireless technology, electronic gaming
and broadband over a record-breaking 1.5 million square feet (equivalent
to 26 football fields!).
While CES clearly stands out as the place to be to
conduct business and see the coming year's products domestically,
it is important for the producers of the show, the Consumer Electronics
Association (CEA), to claim the same fame overseas. To support this
goal, CES and Globalpress teamed up for the show's official press
event, called "UNVEILED", where journalists got a sneak
peek at the product debuts and the winners of the 'Innovations 2005'
awards two days before the show officially opened. Drawing from
over 18 years of successfully securing 'global ink' for companies
of all sizes, Globalpress brought over 50 additional editors from
Europe, Asia and Africa on board for UNVEILED, representing a total
of 18 nations. During the event, Globalpress assisted the international
editors with identifying the companies that matched their particular
interest and connected them with the appropriate company spokesperson
on the show floor." The idea is to match up companies with
reporters, who are attending UNVEILED in search of a particular
story or trend. Our intention in 'pre-qualifying' editors is to
make their life easier while also helping increase the amount of
coverage on the show", explains Irmgard Lafrentz, president
and founder of Globalpress.
UNVEILED, hosted for the first time this year, was
sold out with 60 exhibitors including key industry players such
as Audiovox, Eastman Kodak, Gizmodo, nVidia and Samsung Technologies.
Cornelia Rettig, a reporter at ZDF, one of Germany's leading TV-stations,
indicated that UNVEILED was so crowded with product debuts that
it was great to have Globalpress as a point of contact, to give
her a better understanding of which companies were participating
and which ones would be of interest to her. UNVEILED indeed presented
an almost overwhelming array of product and technology introductions
and announcements, many of which provide consumers with unprecedented
control over when, where and how they watch movies, listen to music,
play video games, and access other information and entertainment
content. As Phil Keys, news writer for Japan's Nikkei electronics
summarizes: "UNVEILED was like a miniature showcase of companies
that had something new to say at CES. An event like this is a great
opportunity to get an overview of announcements without having to
run the halls."

How Virtual and Global
agencies work hand-in hand
Globalpress Connection, Inc. and Martell Communications
support Chiaro Networks' public relations program in the U. S.,
Europe and Asia
Chiaro Networks (www.chiaro.com),
with headquarters in Richardson, Texas, makes the Enstara core telecommunications
router, the world’s first IP/MPLS platform that delivers true
infrastructure-class longevity, ultra reliability and platform versatility.
Chiaro competes in a global and highly competitive market. Its Enstara
platform offers a number of innovative technological advantages
over other core routers available – which can translate into
cost savings and other benefits for carriers who install Enstara
routers in their networks.
As a privately held start-up, Chiaro needs effective
public relations programs to help the company rise above the competitive
"noise", so that industry analysts, prospective customers
and other influential parties can become aware of Chiaro’s
offerings and their potential benefits to telecommunications carriers.
As the public relations agency of record for Chiaro,
Martell Communications has managed press and market analyst relations
for the company’s product launches and other newsworthy events
since mid-2003. A boutique agency founded in 1994, Martell focuses
on consumer, audio, semiconductor, networking & telecommunications
and financial services companies. Martell follows a "virtual
agency" business model, with a tight-knit group of senior professionals
located nationwide. Each individual has many years of experience
to offer Martell’s clients, and they have all worked together
on numerous accounts for many years.
Throughout its relationship with Chiaro, Martell has
teamed up with Globalpress Connection to make sure that Chiaro’s
news reached international as well as U.S.-based press and analysts.
During the cooperation, Globalpress set up press
and analyst meetings for Chiaro in France, Germany, and the UK;
negotiated advertorials in major European publications; and set
up a speaking engagement for Chiaro at CeBit in 2004. Coordination
for press interviews at CeBit 2005 are already in progress.
In December 2004, Chiaro announced a major strategic
relationship with ECI Telecom, an Israeli-based global provider
of advanced telecommunications solutions to leading carriers and
service providers. The relationship included an exclusive distribution
agreement as well as funding by ECI.
To lay the groundwork for this announcement, Martell
and Globalpress first devised a consistent, global awareness strategy
for reaching key press and analysts in North America, Europe, Israel
and Asia with a unified "story" about Chiaro.Weekly phone
conferences with Chiaro’s public relations manager and VP
Marketing as well as the European team is standard in this cooperation
and results in everyone being up to date.
As a result, we can say that every editor writing
about core routers, MPLS networks, etc. knows who Chiaro Networks
is: thanks to a consistent and aggressive PR strategy and implementation.
The work by Martell and Globalpress Connection on behalf of Chiaro
Networks is an example of how Globalpress can work with U.S.-based
public relations agencies to craft a unified plan of action to reach
all across the globe. This way, companies can show the same image
everywhere in the world, but in ways tailored to the individual
needs of each country or geographic region. In the end, this team
approach is the most effective and sensible way for companies today
to do business throughout the global village.
