What Editors are Saying
about Reverse Press Tours
David Manners, Sr. Editor, ElectronicsWeekly,
U.K.
"I've been coming to Silicon Valley at least
annually since the mid 1980s. I find the Globalpress way -- which
is a mixture of business and socialising -- a brilliant way of
finding out what is going on in the Valley. Facts and figures
only tell part of the story. The background, the hopes and fears
are absorbed from chatting with top executives over food and drink.
This is for me a vital ingredient and makes the Gobalpress tours
worth my time."
Chris Mellor, Techworld, U. K.
"The IT Summit was a very fertile event
for me. I filed four stories whilst there and have produced another
three since then using material and contacts gleaned from vendors
at the event. More will follow. The relationships built up with
people from HP, SpectraLogic and Intransa will be very useful for
future stories. Listening to the different presentations gave me
a much better understanding of the workings of today's "integrated
enterprise" where networking, telecom, storage, security has
to come together.
Globalpress runs the best press trips to the US I have ever encountered.
There are well-briefed and responsive vendors, and an interested
group of journalists to get to know as well."
Françoise Grosvalet, Electronique
International Hebdo, France
"I would like to say I greatly appreciate
your welcome last week. It was a very interesting week for me and
I hope it will too be for my readers. All your organisation was
perfect and it was a great pleasure and benefit for me to be there."
Major Lee, Electronics Supply &
Manufacturing, China
I'd like to thank you again for inviting me
attend the Asiapress Electronics II tour last week. It was very
successful and the arrangement was perfect. During the tour, I met
many interesting persons and learned many new technologies as well.
I really appreciate what you've done for us. Please keep me informed
about you future tours and we'd like to take the opportunity to
collect information for the audience of ESM-China.
Chris Mellor, Techworld/Storage Section,
U. K.
Through the 2004 Globalpress Storage tour I
met very interesting companies at senior levels, up to CEO, and
built contacts and a depth of background knowledge that would otherwise
have been impossible. The tour was thoroughly worthwhile both in
terms of news stories, getting educated in industry thinking and
gaining deep insights into the products and strategies of the vendors.
It is an unrivalled opportunity and no better method exists for
gaining what it delivers.
Majeed Kamran, EETimes Asia, Philippines
Based on my own experience and of my colleagues,
Globalpress tours are
very valuable, both in terms of helping expand technology knowledge
base
as well as industry contacts.
Bryan Betts, Freelance Journalist,
contributing to Techworld, Communications News, U.K.
I found the tour very useful as it enabled me
to meet far more companies
than if I had tried to organise the same thing myself. It clearly
took a lot
of the logistical load off the companies too. Globalpress did a
fine job of locating interesting people for this editorial group.
I got the chance to meet several companies that I had previously
known relatively little about. All of them have very significant
technology and mostly fit my beat.
Great service that you make the Powerpoint presentations from the
companies
available online immediately after the tour. I'll let you know once
I have
more stories online from the tour, and look forward to the chance
to work
together in the future.
Yan Yuelong, Telecom World, China
Meeting CEO's and VP level executives at their
headquarters helps me to understand the company's strategy and market
place. I like to see their test facilities to get a feeling for
the company mission and meet their leaders. This clearly enhances
their credibility for my reporting.
John Tanner, Telecom Asia, Hong Kong
I've been doing these tours on a regular basis
since 1999 and I have yet to come away empty-handed in terms of
stories. It's a rare thing for a PR firm to go the extra mile in
understanding what both the editors and the tech companies want
when putting together press events like this - rarer still to be
able to pull it off with eight or nine companies in the course of
a business week. In this respect and more, Globalpress are on top
of their game.
Caroline Hayes, Electronic Product
Design, U. K.
Just wanted to drop you a line to say
how nice it was to see familiar faces
and to meet new ones at Globalpress' Summit2005 in San Jose and
Monterey. All your hard work paid off - it was a very enjoyable
week and more importantly for my boss - very fruitful. There were
some good stories, some solid background for features that are
coming up and a chance to make some contacts and network with
established and emerging companies. I have already written up
some stories from the Summit, which will appear in the April issue!
I will send you issues with editorial from the Summit as they
are published.
Angela Rossoni, Elettronica Oggi/EONews, Italy
As all my collegues have already pointed out,
Globalpress did an excellent job not only in organizing the Tour,
but also in creating a pleasant and friendly atmosphere for the
journalists. So, thank you very much! I also want to stress on the
importance of meeting the companies on the spot. For the journalists
it is an unvaluable occasion to get first-hand information, to visit
companies and to meet both representatives from the companies and
other journalists. For the companies it is very important to have
a capillary press coverage, also in local languages.
Chen Liying, Vice Editor in Chief, Electronic
Engineering & Product World, China
Thanks a lot for Globalpress' professional work
and a very interesting tour. I am really impressed with the technologies
and products of the companies we have visited this time and I am
sure that our readers will like them. China is now keeping up with
developed countries like the US in the area of information and communication
industry. I am also happy that these companies pay so much attention
to the Chinese market. The market in China is so huge that nobody
can ignore it. And the economy here grows so quick that lots of
technologies and products will be needed. It will provide many opportunities
for the companies in Silicon Valley. I hope to be a bridge, with
help of Globalpress, between the enterprises in Silicon Valley and
users in China.
Wang Ying, Executive Editor of Electronic Engineering
& Product World, China, shares a letter from her reader:
A vice general manager named Wang Min, who is
from Shenyang City Huahai Comm. Technology Ltd. (belongs to Liaoning
Province Mobile Group) wrote to my magazine: "I liked to read
the report of Silicon Vally in January 2002 issue. From that, I
know today and tomorrow of the Silicon Valley. So I can analyse
the product's trends and know whether it's useful to my company.
I want to know more about the Silicon Valley. It's hard to come
to us. Thank you."
Jorgen Sarlvit-Larsen, Aktuel Elektronik, Denmark
I returned well and I would just like to thank
you for a perfect organized Embedded tour in February 2002. The
companies were all good and we will in the coming two months publish
articles about all the companies from the tour. Published articles
about new companies and products from Silicon Valley result in very
positive responses from our readers. This a big benefit for us!
Maarten Legius, Editor in chief, PT Embedded
Systems, The Netherlands
Visiting those silicon valley companies - amongst
them very interesting startups - and their people in the middle
of their daily work and business, adds just that major extra thrill
to the technical information which allows me to write stories with
a spark, which my readers will be aware of till the last word.
Valerio Alessandroni, Editor, Elettronica Oggi,
Italy
I wish to thank you very, very much for the
wonderful organization and handling of the last Globalpress Embedded
Systems! I already wrote few articles about Trolltech, Developonline
and Rational and I'm going to write an article fro each other company
I had the chance to visit. The hotel was OK, the hospitality of
the companies was always at top levels and the final meal gave me
the opportunity to make friends all over the world! Please consider
me always available for new tours.
Bum-Jin Yoon, Electronic Parts
& Components, Korea
At first, I very much appreciate your hospitality
and friendship. I'm very happy to meet you. I can't forget the tour.
Globalpress Embedded Systems couldn't be better. Especially, I'm
very interested in DevelopOnline, Atheros, Nazomi and ZF Linux Devices.
I will send a photograph and articles to share you.
Gunnar Lillieskold, Elektronik i Norden, Sweden
It is interesting to get in touch with new companies
that have not yet established a European presence. Start-up companies
are especially interesting, as are large companies that are entering
a new business area or are changing their business philosophy.
Thierry Outrebon, 01 Réseaux, France
I've had the chance to meet a lot of new companies
whose original approach and cutting-edge products were quite unknown
in France. They made our stories unusual and helped the magazine
to be viewed as a discovery tool. Many products have been imported
and tested after our reports following a Europress Connection tour.
If you stay in your own office, you never get the same feeling.
It's like watching a football game on TV versus actually being there
in the crowd. It's almost the same story, but you remember the situation
better when you were there.
Richard Ball, Electronics Weekly, U.K.
The tours are a good way of developing a name,
on both the personal and publication levels, with the latter being
of greater importance. Later, when teleconferences are arranged,
most interviewees feel more comfortable if they've previously met
the journalist or read the paper.
Elisabeth Feder, Electronique International
Hebdo, France
Globally, the tours are an efficient way for
small to medium-sized American companiesor for startups and
other companies who haven't set up European headquartersto
develop a name in the European press.
Pascal Boulard, La Tribune, France
When I'm on a Globalpress Connection tour, I'm
not in a hurry. I have time to think, and it's a chance to see the
companies on their home turf.
Teus Molenaar, Freelancer, Holland
Being on a Europress Connection tour allows
you to focus your mind and body on soaking up new information, and
that's all you do. There are no other editorial distractions. Also,
visiting companies and meeting people in their own environment puts
them at ease.
Arnt Sommerlund, Telecom Revy & ITavisen,
Norway
Nice to hear that you have changed your companies
name. I think it is the right thing to do. Hope you succeed in your
companies goal. Your PR-services as a "connector" to telecom-
and information technology companies in the USA has been very valuable
for our magazine.
Gerhard Kafka, Freelance Writer, Germany
Many thanks for the opportunity to attend your
press tour devoted to wireless technology. You and your professional
team have organised a number of highly interesting meetings with
leading players in that field as well as promising start-ups. The
benefit for me working as a freelancer was to collect some first-hand
information which could be placed in leading German magazines.
Marcia MacLeod, Freelance Writer, UK
Just a note to thank you for inviting me on
last week's reverse press trip; I really appreciate all the hard
work you put in to making the event useful both to the journalists
and to the IT companies who sponsored us. Please pass my thanks
to your colleagues, too.
I have already spoken to a number of editors. Channel Business,
Electronic Commerce in Finance and E-Business Management Report
have all said they will take something. I will also do a piece on
the expense management system for the four HR newsletters I write
for (City HR Review, IT HR Review, Call Centre HR Review and Retail
HR Review) and mention it in a feature I am doing on expense management
for Accountancy.
Yantao Zeng, China Computerworld, China
I congratulate you on your company's name having
changed into Globalpress Connection. You will be better able to
work all around the world, and I hope we could work more with each
other. On your future tours and press briefings, I am anxious to
get your invitation and see you again. |
